At Phoenix Feather, we’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be a friendly local game store—not just in name, but in values. We’re proud to announce our official pricing policy, and we want to share the “why” behind it.
We Price for Gamers, Not the Market
You’ve probably seen the same thing we have: some board games and TCG products skyrocketing in price just because they’re in high demand. We’ve made a choice:
We won’t be part of that.
Instead of chasing trends, we’re keeping our prices as close to MSRP as possible. That means no 30%+ markups on popular releases, no inflated prices just because a card set is hot right now.
Sure, this comes with downsides. Some items we simply won’t stock, because we can’t get them at a price that allows us to keep things fair. But that’s a trade-off we’re willing to make—because we’re not here to exploit our customers. We’re here to build a community.
Protecting Players, Not Scalpers
We know what happens when prices are fair: scalpers come knocking. That’s why we’re taking clear steps to stop them:
- Setting limits on high-demand items
- Offering exclusive products only for in-store opening
- Refusing to sell certain sealed products for resale
It’s not perfect, but it’s a step toward keeping the games in the hands of the people who actually want to play them.

We also want to be clear about something else:
Playing games at Phoenix Feather will never cost you a cent.
No table fees, no pay-to-reserve nonsense. If you want to come and play a board game from our library or meet up with friends for some TCG duels—you’re welcome. The only time we’ll ever charge for play is for official tournaments that include prize support.
